And the Memphis Cotton Carnival is the highlight for locals and tourists alike as thousands of people gather to celebrate this historical event featuring an incredible diverse range of activities for families, young and old.

While tripping through this culturally fascinating place, you don’t want to miss the several film festivals that are featured here including the Indie Memphis Film Festival, the Memphis International Film and Music Festival, and the OutFlix. The Indie Film Festival has been named the Coolest Film Festival of the year by Movie Maker Magazine – high acclaim to be sure!

And musically, Memphis has it all from gospel, rock and roll, to country. Johnny Cash, Elvis, and BB King all found their groove on here and really paved the way for countless other artists to follow. The Sam Phillips’ Sun Studio is a must see on your Memphis tour and it’s really where all the greats began.

Strolling the South Main Arts District or Broad Street, you’re bound to hear jazz streaming from open loft windows and life street artists and djs spinning their trades right before your eyes and ears.
